Doras, in cooperation with New Horizon are seeking to appoint an
INTEGRATION SUPPORT WORKER for nine months on a full-time basis. The
successful candidate will support International Protection Applicants
and other refugees living in the midlands in the areas of education,
social welfare, recreational activities, employment activities, and
integration. In doing so they will expand New Horizon?s existing
programmes in the areas of language education, employment, information
and legal supports, recreational activities and the integration of
children, catering for International Protection Applicants and
refugees in the midlands.
REPORTING TO: Direct Support Manager (Doras)
LOCATION: Athlone
HOURS: **Apply on the website** hours per week, Monday to Friday
DURATION OF CONTRACT: 9 months
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver on a number of
activities, including the following:
* Plan, coordinate and supervise social activities for international
protection applicants, including but not limited to summer
camps/Forest experience/teen adventures
* Run support clinics in Direct Provision centres and office space
in Athlone, with the support of volunteers, follow up on queries and
make necessary referrals
* Develop the direct support services by replicating good practice
and utilizing existing Doras support systems and processes?
* Assist in the development of a New Horizon project management
structure, communications plan, and methods of sharing information
* Liaise with the local Education and Training Board to further
expand English language provision
* Promote the SaorEd online education platform by running computer
laps and other promotional and educational events
* Work with local sporting and social organisations to help them
welcome and include IP applicants
* Recruit and manage additional volunteer English language teachers
for in-person language classes
* Assist skills development of volunteers and management
* Explore funding opportunities to expand and continue the
integration support services in the Midlands
PERSON SPECIFICATION
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
* Ability to develop and manage professional relationships with
statutory and non-statutory service providers, migrant communities,
Doras and New Horizon colleagues and other stakeholders
* Strong organisation and project management skills, with the
ability to manage and prioritise workload
* Strong understanding of diversity, inclusion, and human rights
issues
* Pragmatic and motivated in their approach
* Good communications skills
* Additional language skills considered a strong asset
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
* A minimum of 1 years? experience in a similar role
* Experience working with people from a migrant background
* Stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills
* Digital literacy, including familiarity with CRM systems,
Microsoft packages, databases and Sharepoint
QUALIFICATIONS
* Degree, preferably in subject of relevance to the role
* Clean driving license
